Hot-Aisle Containment System (HACS)

Mixing of hot and cold air streams in the data center lowers availability of IT equipment.  Returning the warmest possible air to the In-Row air conditioners increases the efficiency and capacity of the system.  The hot aisle containment system ensures proper air distribution by completely seperating supply and return air paths.

  • Hot-aisle containment for high-density configurations
    • Hot air containment eliminates hot spots by preventing hot air recirculation into sensitive IT equipment
    • Scalable densities allow for higher density cooling to be achieved by integrating the Hot-aisle Containment System with In-Row architecture
    • Scalable design allows for quick deployment of high density clusters and addresses needs and future expansion with pay-as-you-grow architecture

  HighDensity

The in-row cooling, which couples the power and cooling, minimzes the mixing of the cool air with the hot exhaust air and provides more efficient cooling versus traditional cooling approaches.  With this innovative approach, you can deploy high density applications anywhere, allowing you to support high density in a non-raised floor environment or optimize the existing performance in a raised floor environment.

The hot aisle is sealed off using locking doors and transparent ceiling tiles that extend the width of the hot aisle.  Ceiling tiles are available for both 19" and 23" APC Netshelter racks.

The containment systems prevent the exhaust air from mixing with the cool air, allowing the hot air to be neutralized.  With high density deployments, this is critical since they have both a higher velocity as well as high volume of exhaust air.  In tandem, the in-row cooling used with the containment system is designed to support power densities up to 30kW per rack.
